The Truth

I really don't have time to be blogging right now because I am swamped with homework today but I just need to get this off of my chest and out here for the world to see. :)
I do not like to put controversial things on Facebook because people like to argue and honestly, I really don't care about anybody else's opinion on this matter. I am 110% sure mine is right and I will leave it at that.

So, about an hour ago I was sitting in my Social Problems class discussing a specific topic from the text book, Mental Illnesses. After a while of discussion, he pulled out the DSM four and told us that this specific book was pretty much the "Holy Bible" for psychiatrist. I didn't really like that comment but I continued to listen to what he had to say (obviously because it is going to be on my test). Anyway, he goes on to say that mental illnesses are nothing but labels and based on the values of the society.

He continued on by saying that in 1950 homosexuality was listed as a mental illness in the DSM four and it was because of our values as a society. Now, it has been taken out and renamed to something else. This is very, very sad to me and makes me very frustrated. Where are all the believers at and why are we not standing up for what we know to be right, the TRUTH.

If you are not sure what I am talking about when I say the Truth, I will explain. It is THE Holy Bible. It is the book that NEVER changes. It is the same yesterday, today, and forever. It is very straight forward and there should be no other question about it. Mark 10:6-9 says “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female. ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

I am so thankful for His Word and although I am not perfect, I will strive to do what I know is right and to live according to His Word.

July 4th, Birthday Weekend, & more!

Finally catching a break to blog!
This summer semester has been crazy busy but it is almost over! Praise the Lord!!

The Harrison girls finally made it to Mobile!
It was pretty difficult going from seeing them every.single.day then moving to college and not seeing them except for on some weekends so I was really glad to have them here!

They came down on Wednesday afternoon when I got off work and I cooked spaghetti and brownies. We ate, talked, and then it was raining so we drove around the campus to show the girls where I go to school.

On the fourth, I got up to have my quite time before everyone else got up and Emmy decided she wanted to come with me. I told her that she could sit on the balcony and eat her breakfast and play on her iPod until I finished but she had to be really quite while I read. She eventually gave it up and went inside and told Lorrie "I can't quit talking mommy". That was hilarious to me! It really was like she had been sleeping and quite for so long that she just had so much to tell me! I love that kiddo! :)
We went to the pool for a couple of hours but the sun never really came out...

Love Emmy's face in this picture! :)

Later that evening we went to O Charley's for supper and to the Battleship Park for fireworks! Probably the best fire work show I've ever seen besides Disney!

AK and I shared pecan pie since our birthdays were both coming up...

The next day was another rainy day so we went to Zaxby's for lunch and went shopping for a couple of hours before they headed home...

While they were here, AK got snapchat and sent me this picture of Emmy :)
She can do the "duck face" better than anyone I know!

They left about 5:00 that afternoon and my mom, sister, and Tyler got here around 8:00 to celebrate my birthday weekend!
Saturday morning we went to Cracker Barrel to start of the birthday weekend with some yummy breakfast and then went shopping for the rest of the day!

On Sunday my daddy, Holt, and Granny came for my birthday lunch at Olive Garden. After we ate we came back to the apartment for cake and presents :)

I had a great birthday and I am so glad everyone got to come! :)

I ended that night with these girls singing happy birthday to me and praying for me... sweetest thing ever! I love them so much and it blesses me to see them raised in such a godly home!

I am one paper and one final exam away from being finished with this semester. It has been a rough one since everything has been so compacted! I have really had to stay on top of school work and I will be glad for a break! I am heading home Thursday afternoon, Hillary graduates from Troy on Friday, and we are leaving from there headed to the World Series in South Carolina! I'm sure I will have much more to blog about when life slows down a little! Hope everyone has a great week! :)

Glad to see the weekend!

Good morning!

I ended my last post by saying that this shouldn't be a busy week at all... BOY WAS A WRONG!
I was offered a job a couple of weeks ago but turned it down because I had planned on just babysitting here and there all summer for a family in town. Well, I waited about two weeks and only got called once to babysit and realized that the job that I was offered was constantly on my mind. I quickly realized that I had not prayed about this situation at all and I had tried to take it all into my own hands.. BAD IDEA. I prayed about it for a few days and knew that I needed to get in contact with the man who had offered me the job. I called him on Tuesday afternoon and he hired me over the phone and I started working on Wednesday morning. So, I am now working part time in the purchasing department at Safety Source. The people have all been so friendly and sweet to me! Although school is my primary focus right now in life, I am blessed to have this opportunity!

Thanks to anyone who prayed for me and the meeting I had last week. It was my first meeting as the Pre-OT club president and I also had a few questions about graduate school. All went well and I am exciting about the upcoming school year! Here is a picture of the Pre-OT club officers for the 2013-2014 school year.

Also, Hillary posted a blog with a lot more details but I just want to say how proud I am of her! She graduates at the end of July with an accounting degree and already has a job! Tyler also has a job in Andalusia as a coach and special ed teacher and I am excited for both of them and happy that they will be living back home!! :) Love you both!

And a big GO OPP!!!!!

I will be sitting on my balcony most of the day trying to play "catch up" on my school work! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Birthdays, Wedding, Father's Day, etc.

Life is good...

Two weekends ago when I went home, we all went to Rancho to celebrate Britt and Holt's birthdays. Britt turned 21 on the 5th and Holt turned 17 on the 10th.

On Saturday I went to Ellie and Josh's wedding. It was absolutely beautiful and probably the sweetest wedding I have ever been to. Christ-centered relationships/marriages are so much more special than a secular wedding (as much as I hate to say it is what we see more of today) and that is exactly what theirs is. I pray that their marriage will continue to be one that honors our Lord. Wish them both nothing but happiness!!

I had to leave the reception early because I knew I was getting another UTI. I had one back in the spring semester, so I was scheduled to have an ultrasound on my kidneys this past Friday to make sure nothing was going on and I have one kidney stone and I am supposed to go back for a follow up the next time I am home. Needless to say, the drive back last Sunday was not fun at all. I ended up getting sick from the medicine and I didn't start feeling better until about Wednesday of last week.

As soon as I started feeling better I had a pool day with this pretty girl! It also happens to be her birthday today so HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :)

I went home this past weekend for Father's Day. When I got into town on Friday, I went and had lunch with Ander before my ultrasound and then went on to the AT&T store to get my new Iphone 5! I had planned on stopping by the new dealership on my way home and when I got there my daddy was leaving to go get his phone so I rode back to Andalusia with him. I did get a grand tour of the new dealership from Keith. It is so nice!! Definitely a huge step up from where they were working.

Jess spent the night with us Friday night and she and Hillary had told me that if I would wake them up Saturday morning, we would go eat breakfast at Doc's. So I get up and get ready and when I try to wake them up, they had "changed their mind". So here I am... up at 8:00 on a Saturday morning craving Doc's! Tyler Dent came through though and went with me!

We went out to eat at the country club after church for Father's Day. We all got up to leave and Hillary was prancing around being a diva and asked Holt to hold open the door for her. I thought it was pretty hilarious so I imitated her "walk" and said "Holt, hold that door open for me" (in the same voice as Hill)... Well I got up beside her and we were trying to go through the door at the same time. Before I knew it she had face planted and sweet tea went EVERYWHERE! It was the funniest thing!! Her story is much different than mine. She claims that I "pushed" her but that is far from the truth! I wish I would have had my phone to take a picture but I didn't :(

I started working out at 5:00 AM last week and I feel so much better when I work out in the morning. Jess started this morning with me so I am hoping that we will both stay motivated! I am hoping to also be able to go in the afternoons just to get in some more cardio! I don't know if I have mentioned it on the blog yet but Jess is my new roommate. I moved in with her at the end of the spring semester. We cook a lot and try to eat healthy! I'm sure you will hear a lot about her from here on out. She and Hillary are best friends and lived together in Troy. I'm pretty sure I am a better roommate than Hillary. She's kind of hard to live with :) Just kidding!

This week shouldn't be too busy. I have a few assignments to complete and a final to start studying for. We start a new bible study group tonight so I am very excited about that! And I have a meeting tomorrow so prayers would be appreciated! I am also running low on Vitamin D so I am hoping for some sunny days this week!! :)

Hope everyone has a great week!

First Year at South...

My first year at the University of South Alabama has brought many changes to my life. So many new friendships have been made and I am so thankful that the Lord has placed godly girls in my life with the same values and beliefs. I have changed my major from Health Sciences to Psychology with a minor in Sociology. So far, so good! If things go as planned, I will graduate next May and hopefully continue my education in grad school. This year has shown me that my plans are definitely not the best plans and the Lord will bring good from any situation as long as I allow Him and trust Him to do so. Hopefully, I can get into a routine of blogging this summer. I would love to be able to look back later in life at my college days to see what I was doing and thinking during this time!

I moved into the dorm on August 18th and started classes on the following Monday. The dorm was an experience for sure! I can't just say I loved it, but I am glad I decided to try it for a year!

We both got new laptops the Saturday I moved in!

I spent most of my weekends at home. Moving to Mobile was a pretty big adjustment for me!

Most Friday nights consisted of Bobcat Football and will continue next year since Holt has decided to play football his senior year!

OES Beauty Pageant to watch this pretty girl!

Hillary's 21st birthday celebration at Papa G's. Life is about choices and sometimes choosing to skip a class to celebrate a birthday is just what you have to do! :)

Dairy Queen run after a pep rally with my girls!

War Eagle! Love her to pieces!

My first (and only at this point) South football game. My parents came on a Saturday and we went to the South vs. Troy game. It was raining and not a very pleasant day for football!

Fall Festival at WBC

Is this not a precious picture? I am so thankful for these two people. They have worked so hard all my life to give me everything I need and much, much more. I am so thankful to call them my parents and I would not be able to survive without them!
(my mom looks like she is about twenty five in this picture)

Not really sure why Emmy has a blue flower in her hair but I am thankful to have these two precious kiddos in my life and miss them like crazy while I'm at school!

It's never too cold for ice cream!!

Karley and I went hunting with "the Bob" one weekend in November

Amelia Joy Sansom was born the Monday of my Thanksgiving break. Lorrie and I got up that morning to head to Dothan to meet this sweet baby!! She is such a blessing and just as beautiful as her sisters!

Road trip to Dothan to visit Ashton and Amelia :)

Thanksgiving with the Hall's

Christmas shopping the weekend after Thanksgiving with my momma and sister...

Most of my fall semester was spent studying statistics. This was by far my most difficult class of the semester.

Amber got engaged right before Christmas break and we all drove to the beach to surprise her and spend the night with her after she and Justin got back from dinner. I am so excited for her and know she will be a beautiful bride!

Christmas break was wonderful and I was not ready to come back to school when the time rolled around...

Little did I know, I was about to meet some of the greatest girls ever and begin some life long friendships. I am so blessed.

This was our girl's bible study for the spring semester. It was absolutely wonderful and very appropriate for the stage of life we are in. We had many great discussions about relationships and learned a lot from each other and the Word. Most of the study was centered around giving God the pen to write not only your "love story" but also your life story. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will do great things. The thing that stuck out most to me in the study was Proverbs 31. Though I have heard this specific scripture many times throughout my life, I never really understood it. "She brings him good, not harm, ALL the days of her life" (v.12). All the days of my life. I am supposed to be bringing good, not harm, to my future spouse right at this very moment. It is not just after I become married, or even after I meet him... it's the here and now. So for any young girls/women who may be reading this, it's true... what you are doing right now really does matter. If you are in a relationship with a guy that is not bringing glory to our Lord and that could be harm to your future husband, no matter how hard it may be, it's time for you to take a stand and get out of the relationship.

Happy 4th Birthday to Emmy!!

Happy 3rd Birthday to my crazy Caroline!!

Spend the night party while the big sister's were at cheer competition!

Holt's junior year baseball season

The first day of spring break week was spent with this sweet baby :)

Then it was off to the beach for the rest of the week!!

The little girls spent the night on Friday night and we got up the next morning to go watch the big girls competition at the beach!

Holt had his junior prom and he was just as cute as he could be!! I can't believe he is about to be a SENIOR!!

Dance recital weekend and a sleepover!

Easter 2013

Here are a few pictures from my two week break at home between spring semester and summer semester!

Wow! That was a lot of catching up to do! Hopefully I will be able to stay on top of it and update more often. Hope everyone has a safe and fun summer!

Oh yeah, one more thing... Ashton texted me this picture earlier in the week. SC had made a book at school and this was something she wrote. It really put a smile on my face and I can't wait for them to come visit! Sweet child!!!
